Michigan’s pristine forests, spectacular waterfalls, and glistening waters make it the perfect place to get off the beaten path. Immerse yourself in our natural wonders by taking a snowshoe trek.
Snowshoeing for Experienced and Inexperienced Alike
For experienced snowshoers, the Upper Peninsula is a paradise. Those who have snowshoed before know the joy of hearing nothing but their own breath and of knowing that they are the only human beings present in a wide natural area. Our woods, lakes, and streams offer ample places to get away from it all, breathe in the crisp air, and take a moment to yourself.
Even if you haven’t gone snowshoeing before, our woods offer all the motivation you need to get started. Most people come to Edgewater to get away from it all, and what better way to do that than to take a trek to the very edges of civilization? Snowshoeing isn’t difficult, so you can feel confident that you’ll pick it up quickly and be able to head off on your own almost as soon as you can strap the snowshoes to your feet.
Finding a Trail
Whether you want to snowshoe on a hiking trail, a cross country skiing trail, or take off into the brush on your own, we have what you need to get your adventure started. We’ll connect you with local experts who will help you find trails based on your level of experience, your physical fitness, and how far you want to go. They’ll also take into account anything particular that you’d like to see, like a frozen waterfall or a local lake.
Some of our outfitters also offer guided snowshoeing treks. These offer you the chance to see our countryside at its best while not having to stress about being off on your own. Guided treks can help you relax and get to know the area, and they take the pressure off you if you’re out on snowshoes for the first time.
You can always rent a pair of snowshoes while you’re here. We are three miles north of Iron Mountain, MI, which hosts several rental locations or retailers. If you haven’t tried snowshoeing before, this could be the perfect chance to learn something new while you’re on vacation. Even experienced folks rent snowshoes sometimes, because they can be hard to transport.
Whatever you need to make your snowshoeing experience a success, we can help you find it. We want you to come to love our woods as much as we do, and we are committed to helping you get whatever you need to do just that.
Snowshoeing is fun, and it’s so easy even a child can do it. If you’re interested in taking part, let us know when you book your cabin. We’ll put you in touch with one of our local outfitters, who will have everything you need ready to go as soon as you get here. That way, you can get out, get away, and enjoy the woods as soon as possible.
